Sanya International Airport is called Phoenix because of the nearby small village of Fenghuang (Phoenix). Today it is a modern airport, carrying out passenger transportation on 168 routes.
Sanya Phoenix Airport was completed in June 1994, and the official opening ceremony took place on July 1. Despite the fact that the building was built with the prospect of increasing capacity, in 2006-2007 it was necessary to reconstruct it. Today, the airport is a well-equipped complex with maximum amenities for passengers. A waiting room with soft seats, a mother and child room, a VIP room with fountains, 42 shops, a tourist office, many ornamental plants and sun loungers - everything is made for guests. In front of the airport building there is a parking for 472 cars. Places on it are paid, but the price is very moderate.
The distance to the city is only 11 kilometers. You can get there by bus for 10 yuan per person. The trip will literally take a few minutes. A taxi ride will cost a little more, but it will save time.
