Capital of Ancient China - Xi'an (for two days)
Description:
Day 1: Arrival in Xi'an.
Meeting with a Russian-speaking translator.
Excursion programme:
The old city wall. The first historical attraction that tourists encounter in Xi'an is the old city wall that encircles the ancient city. The northern part of the wall runs parallel to the railway. Xi'an was originally a city surrounded by a wall. Now the ancient wall divides the city into interior and exterior. The city wall is very massive. She's tall, long and fat. The South Gate and the North Gate are the main entrances to the inner city. Along the ancient city wall are the buildings of modern Xian.
The Drum Tower is located northwest of the Xian Bell Tower. Among the locals, the towers are known as “sister buildings” or “Morning Bell and Dark Drum.” In ancient China, especially during the Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368), drums were used to signal the passage of time, and in emergency situations as an alarm.
The bell tower, Xi'an Bell Tower is a building built in traditional Chinese style, located in the center of Xi'an, the ancient capital. It is from this tower that all the important streets of the city depart - East, North, West and South, which connect the bell tower with the gates of the city walls. The bell tower is the best preserved and largest wooden tower in China. Its height is 36 meters, and the foundation is about 35 meters wide and about 8.5 meters high. Such a large size of the tower is explained by the fact that during the Ming dynasty, the city of Xi'an had a very important military importance.
Dayanta is the Great Wild Goose Pagoda. The Great Wild Goose Pagoda is located in the Qien Temple, 4 kilometers from the center of Xian, and is one of the main landmarks of the city. It was built in 652 AD, under the direction of the first abbot of the temple Xuan Zhang as a place of storage of Buddhist sutras and Buddhist relics, which he brought from India. The temple contains two rare steles signed by Tang emperors (618-907). The steles were placed here more than 1,200 years ago. The temple complex, which houses a large Wild Goose Pagoda, includes beautiful gardens and marvelous architectural buildings. Although many of them were repeatedly destroyed, they were later restored, giving them their original appearance. The buildings are made of gray brick, with glazed roofs. In one of the many gardens or courtyards of the temple, it is pleasant to relax and admire the surrounding ancient architecture. The temple complex is filled with ancient exhibits. Hidden from prying eyes, the stupa forest is where prominent monks are buried. Stupas, or gravestones, made very elegantly, they were placed on the territory of the temple several centuries ago.
Day 2: The excursion program:
Binmayun Terracotta Warriors. Discovered in 1974 by a group of farmers, the Terracotta Warriors (or Terracotta Army) have astounded the world with their craftsmanship and incredible numbers. The Terracotta Army was built to guard the tomb of Emperor Qing Shihuang, the emperor who founded the Qing Dynasty and united China. The territory of the Terracotta Army was turned into a museum and divided into numbered crypts, from 1 to 4. It is striking not only the number of soldiers, but also the grace and diligence with which they are made: the faces, emotions, hairstyles and clothes of each soldier have their own individual characteristics. Each soldier was armed with a bronze weapon. Terracotta horses are harnessed in fully functioning wooden chariots. Sagittarius, spear-bearers, infantry, charioteers and generals - once every soldier was covered with paint and his appearance fully corresponded to the appearance of the soldiers of the real army.
Located 30 kilometers from the city of Xi'an, at the foot of the Lishan mountain of Linton County, the Huaqing hot spring is widely known not only for its picturesque landscapes, but also for the romantic love story of Emperor Tang Xuanzong (685-762 CE) and his beloved Yang Guifei. The long history and location among the charming landscapes of Xiani, as well as the opportunity to swim in the hot spring, make this place one of the most attractive for tourists.
