Suzhou "One Day"
Description:
Welcome to the “One Day in Suzhou” tour!
Suzhou is an ancient city with 2,500 years of history, located 130 km from Shanghai. The convenient location of the city, which stands on the banks of river arms and canals, once turned Suzhou into the largest commercial and cultural center. The city began to develop trade very early, Suzhou quickly turned into a prosperous center of trade and crafts of ancient China. Even now, Suzhou has managed to maintain its status as one of the most developed cities in modern China. Unlike the village of Zhujiajiao, Suzhou is a real metropolis, which consists of their quiet traditional historical center with low buildings, white walls of houses, narrow canals and stone bridges and a modern financial center.
The tour program includes a meeting at your Shanghai hotel. Then depart for Suzhou by high-speed train and visit the following places:
North Pagoda
- Beautiful and very quiet atmospheric Buddhist temple complex, on the territory of which there is a tall pagoda, a stone statue of the famous smiling Buddha, as well as a picturesque Garden with Chinese cherry and bamboo grove, in which locals like to relax.
The Garden of the Modest Official
- In China, Suzhou is best known for its magnificent former private gardens. There are many of them in the city, but the most beautiful and large traditional Suzhou garden is the Garden of the Modest Official. On the truly giant territory of the garden fit many traditional pavilions, artificial ponds, stone bridges and rocks. I will walk you through endless winding paths and tell you a lot about the history of the garden, why it got its name, and also tell you about the principles of gardening in China - a very interesting art form.
The ancient gates of Panmen
- Once Old Suzhou was a protected fortress, the city was surrounded by high gates, in front of which was an artificial protective moat. Unfortunately, to this day, the ancient gate has not managed to survive except for one site - the Panmen Gate. On the territory of this tourist complex there is a picturesque temple with a giant pond, where you can feed Toshlkita carp and climb the high Buddhist pagoda.
Shantan pedestrian street
- Walk along the canal along the old pedestrian street Shantan. It is the busiest and most romantic part of the city with many bars, restaurants and souvenir shops. I will also be able to take you through a very colorful residential quarter, where you can get acquainted with the life of local residents.
Return to Shanghai by high-speed train.
Tickets for high-speed train, other transport and entrance are paid separately, including for a guide. Movement in Suzhou itself is carried out by subway or taxi. All the places are close to each other in the city center.
