Square of the Wave Pavilion
Cang Lang Qu, Suzhou, Jiangsu, China, 215007
Description:
The Pavilion of Rising Waves begins its history in 1044, since the reign of the Northern Song dynasty. The founder of the garden was a retired official and poet Su Shunqin.
After his political career, Su Shunqin acquired one hectare of land in Suzhou. This picturesque place did not require any work - its natural beauty already amazed with its perfection. Su Shunqin only supplemented the garden with stone slides imitating yellow stone hills.
The beautiful name of the garden comes from the name of the coastal pavilion built under Su Shunqing. Other buildings appeared here from the 17th to the 20th century - all of them are designed in a simple, unattractive style, so as not to stand out from the surrounding nature.
