Kyunglung Monastery Kurtham Bon

Sutledge Valley, near Lake Manasarovar

Description:

Kyunglung Kurtham Bon Monastery is located under Tibetan rocks with numerous caves, one of which was the residence of the chief expert of Tibetan medicine, the main teacher and practitioner of the Bon Guru Rinpoche tradition. In fact, the monastery was the spiritual and energetic center of this mystical and little-studied religion, which still exists in some areas of Tibet and nearby countries.

Above the entrance to the monastery is the symbol of the Bon – left-sided swastika. In front of the entrance to the main hall of the monastery, an old bass map-scheme of Shambhala with dozens of schematically depicted monasteries. Next to the map on the bass picture schematically depicts the sacred Kailash and the sacred Manasarovar.

In the main hall there is a stupa with relics. The monastery stands as a guard in front of the entrance to the narrow gorge of the upper reaches of Sutlej, which leads to the secret valleys. To get into this gorge, you still need to drive through a Chinese military unit with a special pass.
