Mount Montserrat (2.8 thousand meters above sea level and 500 above the city) can be climbed by monorail or suspended cable car to a height of 3152 meters, it takes a few minutes.
You can climb on foot, past very expressive sculptural groups depicting the last hours of Christ’s earthly life, his crucifixion and resurrection.
Mount Montserrat is the symbol and religious center of the city. Here is a church dedicated to the Black Madonna of Montserrat, built in 1640. The original temple is located in Barcelona, Spain.
The Basilica of the Crucified Christ on Mount Montserrat is a major Catholic center visited annually by thousands of pilgrims. It is believed that the crucifix in the cathedral has the gift of healing.
