Statue of Lord Christ
Description:
On the mountain, called the Crystal, stands a statue of Christ the Lord – a slightly reduced copy of the famous sculpture of Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro. The statue became a symbol of peace and forgiveness of sins for all Colombians.
Cerro de Cristo Rey (Mountain of the Crystals) is a mountain of 1440 meters located in the village of Los Andes, west of the city of Santiago de Cali. To commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of the end of the Millennial War (Civil War in Colombia), on October 25, 1953, the image of Christ in iron and concrete, with a mass of 464 tons and a height of 31 meters, counting a 5-meter pedestal, was unveiled on its top.
The statue was built with funds raised by believers. Access to the statue is possible day and night, from there there is a breathtaking view. At night, everything is beautifully lit and full of people.
