Uharras observation deck

The observation deck is located near the Indian village of Uharras and the Orosi Valley.

Description:

Most often, the Uharass observation deck becomes part of the tourist route. Guides like to show travelers the ancient capital of Costa Rica Cartago, and at the end of the tour come to the Orosi valley and give the opportunity to see all the splendor of local nature from the observation deck of Ucharras.

As in the palm of your hand are majestic mountains, the foothills of which are drowned in the colorful flames of flowering trees: red, bright orange and yellow colors merge with the stormy streams of the river. In the distance you can see the ruins of an ancient church built in the sixteenth century.

This church has its own legend. Allegedly, an Indian from the Huetar tribe found there a box on which the image of the Virgin Mary was engraved. He wanted to take her with him, but he couldn't. No one could take the divine sign from this place. Nuestra Senora de la Limpia Conception was built there.

It is said that the face of the Virgin Mary protected the inhabitants of the nearby village of Uharras. For example, the settlement survived a pirate attack led by the legendary Henry Morgan in 1666. However, after almost two hundred years, Uharras was seriously affected by the flood of 1833. The consequences of the disaster were very serious, and the village had to be “transferred” to the hills to avoid such tragedies. Abandoned remains of old buildings are still in the same place.
