Day of Martyrs of the Revolution in Cuba

Description:

The revolution gathered under its banner many men capable of carrying weapons.
On July 26, 1959, at 5:15 a.m., the purely symbolic Council of Ministers declared July 30 a day to honor all the martyrs of the Cuban revolution. The date was not chosen by chance - it was on this day that Frank Pais Garcia, Raul Puhol and Rene Ramos Latour died in battle.

These men were among the best soldiers of the Cuban garrison, and they were excellent commanders and inspirers of the Cuban people. As a funeral procession passed through the streets of Santiago, the boulevards were impossible to push through - so many people, despite the state pickets and the regular army, were eager to say goodbye to the leaders of the popular uprising against the tyrannical regime of Batista.
