The beginning of the national uprising in Cuba

Description:

Revolutionary Graffiti
July 26, 1953 is considered one of the most significant dates in the modern history of Cuba. This morning, a group of Cuban revolutionary rebels (approximately 160 men) led by the then little-known Fidel Castro attempted to storm the Mancada barracks in Santiago de Cuba, Cuba’s second-largest city.

Although the storming of the fortress ended with the complete defeat of the Comandante battle group, the day of July 26 became one of the symbols of the revolution and favorite holidays on the island. The weekend is announced three consecutive days on May 25, 26 and 27. Full-scale celebrations are held annually in Havana and Santiago de Cuba.

In all squares on this day, Cubans hold carnivals, concerts and, of course, demonstrations. If you are lucky, you can see a stunning aerial show on old models of the Soviet MiG-21. Thousands of tourists gather to watch amazing events, and for the residents of the country, the most important element of the holiday is the traditional many-hour performance of one of the most gifted speakers of our time - Fidel Castro.
