Beginning of the Second Cuban War of Independence
Description:
On February 24, 1895, a new revolutionary movement began to operate, which began to gain popularity among the bulk of the population. This war, which sought to establish socialism, finally overthrew the Spanish government and gave Cuba the right to freedom.
In the province of Oviento, the National Heroes of Cuba, Jose Marti, together with his associates Maximo Gomez and Antonio Maceo, announced the beginning of a revolutionary uprising. The war was successful despite the death of the leader of the revolution, José Marti.
The war was interrupted by the intervention of the United States of America - Spain withdrew from Cuba, but a new "dictator" took its place. The United States established a totalitarian regime on Liberty Island, and once again Cuba’s full independence was pushed back for many years.
