El Morro Fortress

El Morro Fortress (Cuba, Havana) is one of the most famous sights of Liberty Island. The Castillo de los Reyes Magos del Morro was built according to a special project created by the Italian engineer Gianbatista Antonelli several centuries ago, and allowed to reliably protect the entrance to the city port. Before the capture of the fortress by British soldiers there was an observation tower, which was subsequently blown up.

Later, a lighthouse was erected on the site of the tower. Currently, tourists can get acquainted with the barracks located on the territory of the fortress and with a small exhibition exposition, as well as climb the roof with numerous guns using a small ramp. You can get to this well-preserved attraction by city taxi, tourist bus or small ferry.
