Old Havana port was founded by the Spaniards in the early XVI century. The seaport is located in the historical part of the city - Havana Vieja.
At first it was a trading harbor. Dutch and French pirates attacked the harbor. To protect against uninvited guests, construction began, bays fortifications, defensive structures. The old port has been through a lot. Today, the building needs reconstruction.
