Mercaderes Street

Mercaderes

Description:

Mercaderes Street is one of the attractions of Havana. It is of particular interest to tourists, as it is an exact copy of the 18th century street. The Office of the Historian of Old Havana put a lot of effort into making it look like it did 3 centuries ago. In addition to the unique architecture of the buildings, there are attractions such as the old city square, the African House, the monument to Simon Bolivar, the History Museum in Havana, the Habanera Pharmacy Museum, the Tobacco Museum and much more. Particular attention should be paid to the cathedral in Havana. In its northernmost part, the street overlooks Cathedral Square, at the intersection with Empedrado Street.

The street is located in the eastern part of the city and is only for pedestrians. You can get off at the Playas del Este stop and then turn east on Obravia Street. As soon as you see the African House, you are there!
