Bellamar Caves
Description:
Bellamar Caves are located three kilometers from the Cuban town of Mantanzas. They have a length of about 3 kilometers, but the site is only 300 meters long. The caves are up to 50 meters deep. The eyes open colored crystals on the ceilings, flickering in lighting, stalactites and stalagmites. The age of crystals is more than 40 thousand years.
The caves have an interesting history. They were discovered in 1850 by shepherds looking for a lost sheep. But even after that, no one dared to go there, believing that dark forces dwell there. Only a hundred years later, speleologists began internal research and discovered the amazing beauty of the grotto.
Studies of individual rooms are still ongoing. The Columbus Cloak deserves special attention. The so-called formation of crystals, whose height is 12 meters. The shape resembles a falling cloak (hence the name). Inside the cave there is also a stream and karst lakes.
You can get to this attraction from the city in the southeast direction by buses 16, 17, 20. You need to leave near Salle 226 street, then follow the signs on foot.
