Description:
Humboldt National Park is a national park of Cuba, impressive for its size, landscape and natural diversity. Due to the importance of the park in preserving the local ecosystem, in 2001 it was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
The park was named after the scientist Alexander Humboldt, who visited the island in 1880 and 1881 and thanks to whom these places became well known to mankind. The park covers an area of 71,140 hectares and includes both terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems. There are dozens of species of rare plants, some of which can be found exclusively in the park. Also, Humboldt Park is home to rare species of fauna - parrots, hummingbirds, lizards and even snails, so it is considered one of the most important reserves of the Caribbean.
