Emir's Palace of Old Seif Palace

Kuwait, Kuwait, Arabian Gulf Street

Description:

The Emir’s Palace of Old Seif Palace is a famous palace in Kuwait. Located opposite the Grand Mosque, it is a symbol of sovereignty in Kuwait. In 1904, it was decided to build the headquarters and permanent center of the country's rulers facing the sea, and in 1917 the palace was officially opened.

The most famous part of the Palace is the blue-tiled clock tower, which has a roof of pure gold. During the first Gulf War, the tower was hit directly by a rocket that completely destroyed the clock. But after the war, the clock was replaced by a new one, and the tower was completely restored.

Inside you can see elaborate arches and traditional colorful arabesques. The palace building was built from local materials such as clay, rocks, metals, limestone, wood. Despite the war and extensive reconstruction, the building is very well preserved and still amazes with its power. The Palace of the Emir of Old Seif Palace contains materials that reflect the history of the population of Kuwait. The center contains copies of documents from international archives related to Kuwait and the Arab Peninsula.
