Presidential Palace of Vientiane
Presidential Palace, Lane Xang Avenue, Vientiane, Laos
Description:
The Presidential Palace is located in the capital of Laos, Vientiane. Located near the Buddhist temple of Wat Sisaket, at the intersection of Lane Xang Avenue and Settathirath Road. A mansion was built in a classical style. The palace is now the official residence of the President of Laos.
The palace was designed by local architect Khamphoung Phonekeo, but due to the political innovations of the ruling authorities, the construction of the mansion was discontinued. It was renewed much later, and only in 1986 the mansion was completed. However, the palace is only used for meetings at the highest state level and for official ceremonies.
Unfortunately, the presidential palace is closed to the public. And a pity, since it has something to see – it is fascinating with its beauty and impressiveness. Tall columns and shady balconies harmoniously fit into the overall appearance of the building, and well-groomed lawns and gardens surround the palace from all sides. And all this splendor is fenced by high walls and forged iron gates, through which only you can admire this elegant palace.
