Baltic Unity Day

Description:

Order of the Crusaders
In 1207. The order of swordtails captured the territory of the Livs, in 1214. - Latgal lands. The purpose of the Order was to gain military and political control over the Baltics and convert the Baltic people to Christianity.

And on September 22, 1236, the monks of the Order and the Crusaders made a robbery raid on Lithuania. When they returned home with rich booty, in Saul the Baltic people united and repulsed the attack of uninvited guests. The order of the swordtails was defeated. At the Battle of Saul, the Master of the Order fell, a large number of knights and brethren were exterminated, as well as many crusaders and warriors. After this defeat, the Order was no longer able to rally new forces around it. For 34 years of its activity, the Order caused great damage: robbed, killed, burned.

The surviving swordtails joined the German Order (in Russian history, the German Order is more often called the Teutonic Order) in East Prussia. The Livonian branch of the German Order was formed, which has since become known as the Livonian Order. He repeatedly began military campaigns against the Curons and Zemgals, attacking Zemgal and the Course. These trips are described in the Rhythmic Chronicle.

This holiday is not an official holiday.
