Aristotle's Day

Emblem of the University of LatviaOn the eve of the beginning of the new academic year, new students of the University of Latvia Riga will gather on Domskaya Square to celebrate the traditional holiday of Aristotle.

The event consists of two parts. The first part is traditionally held on Domskaya Square, and the second part this year will be held at Sapņu fabrika. You can come to Domskaya Square starting from 19:30, and the event itself will begin at 20:00.

Faculty deans welcome

New students will be greeted by the deans of the faculties, the rector of the University, the creative teams of the university - the Juventus choir and the Dancis folk dance ensemble, as well as Aristotle himself. Also scheduled are speeches by President Valdis Zatlers, Minister of Education and Science Baiba Rivzha.

The second part of the festival will be held in Sapņu fabrika and will begin at 22:00. Guests from Germany, the electronic music association Project Pitchfork, will perform here. Sapņu fabrika will also feature local bands such as R.A.P, UFO, Oranžās Brīvdienas and the winners of the Das Sonntags Legion competition.

The event will end with a solemn procession from the Dome Square to the alma mater.
