Michelle's Day

Bazaar and Trade DayMikel Day (in different European nations - Michel or Mattis) is a traditional holiday of the end of all summer and autumn works, it is a day of bazaars and trade.

In the Old part of Riga, a fun fair is held, fragrant and tasty apples are brought from all corners of Latvia. The recreation center “LIDO Atputas centrs”, one of the largest log buildings in Europe, prepares a special festive program with live music.

There are many folk signs associated with this day. If the night of September 29 is frosty, then the winter will be frosty. If the foliage on the trees lasts until the day of Mikel, it will be a cold spring. If the weather is nice and sunny on this day, then the summer of next year will also be good.
