New Year

This holiday is especially exciting for children.On the eve of the New Year, there is a trade boom in Latvia. This holiday cannot leave anyone indifferent, and therefore is celebrated widely.

First of all, the hallmark of this holiday is the abundance of dishes on the table. The traditional drink is champagne. As a rule, they are filled with glasses to beat the clock, in the last seconds of the outgoing year.

After 24 hours, the roar of firecrackers is heard on the street and the sky is covered with rainbow bursts of fireworks. The festival lasts most of the night and sometimes until the morning.

This holiday is especially joyful for children, because they are looking forward to gifts. These are usually sweets and other sweets.

The New Year, although not a traditional Latvian holiday, has taken root in Latvia and is recognized as an official holiday.
