Rundale Palace
The Rundale Palace Museum, Pilsrundale, Bauska, Bauska, Bauskas, Latvia
Description:
Rundale Palace is a Baroque palace near the town of Bauska.
The palace began to be built in 1736, and was completed for a number of reasons only in 1768. This building, designed by Francesco Bartolomeo Rastrelli, has a rather tragic history. After the completion of construction, it was subjected to various threats: in 1812 - from the army of Napoleon, in 1919 - almost died because of the soldiers of Bermont-Avalov, after which the building was able to survive the Great Patriotic War and the refugees who lived in the palace after the war. Since 1972, restoration works have been carried out in the palace, which have not yet been completed, but even despite them, the palace and the park next to it are the most famous sights of Latvia.
