Description:
Arayshi Lake Castle is a small settlement on Lake Arayshi that originated in the 9th century. This settlement has been studied better than all villages of this type, so it was decided to completely reconstruct it and open an open-air museum.
This castle was opened in 1867 by Count C.G. Sievers, who also made the first assumptions about the origin of these buildings. But a full-scale archaeological study of the region was conducted only in the middle of the last century. As a result of the study, several other similar structures of a slightly smaller size were identified.
Araishi Castle consisted of several rows of rather large huts, which were separated by a street up to 4 meters wide, and communication with the shore was carried out through a small log dam. Due to the fact that the castle was well protected by the waters of the lake, its inhabitants were not afraid of invaders and many of them were very rich.
At the moment, Araishi Castle has been turned into a museum, where anyone can get acquainted with the earliest stage of settlement of this region.
