The white dune in Saulkrasty is a sand covering of the cavernous mountains near the places where the Inchupe River flows into the sea, formed many millions of years ago.
Munchausen Museum is located in Dunte 8 km beyond Saulkrasti. Baron Munchausen spent his most beautiful years with his wife Jacobina in Vidzeme, Latvia. On the hill near the lake rises Birin Castle, built in 1860. It is a romantic, lovingly created place. The oak of nine branches is one of the most interesting tourist sites, whose age is 450 years. According to an ancient belief, when you touch this huge oak tree, people absorb heavenly energy, harness power, health and strength. Weini underground lakes are located in a cave, whose height above the surface reaches 4 meters and are the only in the Baltic States. Within the walls of Straupe Castle is the last functioning church in Europe, which operates in the former historical castle.
