Jaunpils Castle

The exact time of the appearance of Jaunpils Castle is not known. Archaeological excavations show that the first defensive structures in these places appeared around the 10th century.

In the 13th century, the wooden castle that stood here was completely destroyed by the Germans and the construction of a stone fortress was started in its place.

In the 17th century, the castle underwent some changes, but even despite them, it survived to the present day in an almost pristine state and preserved narrow stairs, low vaults and walls several meters thick.
