Local Lore Museum of the Holy Trinity Tower

Akadē mijas iela 1, Jelgava, LV-3001

Description:

The unspoken symbol of Eglava is the church tower of the Church of the Holy Trinity. It is located in the Academic Square. The creator of the tower is the Dutch architect Joris Jorison Frese. After an air strike in 1944, the church was completely destroyed. The bell tower was also in ruins for a long time, but was completely restored in 2010. Today, in the tower of the Jelgava Church of the Holy Trinity, most of the floors are occupied by the expositions of the local history museum.

The expositions of the museum tell all periods of the city’s existence, from prehistoric times to modern times. Several halls of the museum are dedicated to the biography of the first presidents of Latvia, who were born in Zemgal.

In front of the entrance to the tower there is a fountain, in the center of which there is a sculpture symbolizing the Holy Trinity. On the first floor of the tower is the elite French restaurant "La Tour de Marie". And at the very top there is a glass observation deck, which offers the best view of the city.
