Lutheran Church of St. Anne
ooh Liela 22a, Jelgava, Latvia
Description:
The Lutheran Church of St. Anne is located in Jelgava on Liela Street. The construction of the church dates back to 1567, but over the next two centuries it was completely rebuilt several times, first in wood and then in stone. Despite this, the Church of St. Anne is the oldest building in the city, which has survived to this day. This is the first Lutheran temple built in Latvia, so not only its cultural, but also its historical value is great. After the Second World War, the temple underwent several large-scale reconstructions. In particular, a new body was discharged from France. Today, the temple regularly hosts concerts of classical and sacred music, in which high-level Latvian and foreign performers perform.
