History Museum of Railways of Latvia

Stacijas iela 3, Jelgava, LV-3001

About the company:

The Historical Museum of Railways of Latvia is located in Jelgava. His first exhibition appeared in 1982 as part of the exhibition of the Public Museum of Combat and Labor Glory at the local railway club. Ten years later, a separate building was built next to the club, where the entire collection moved. In addition to the railway station itself, next to the museum there is a real semaphore, couplings, draughts, locomotive wheels, a water column, a barrier and even a specially built from a log cabin rifleman's house.

In the halls of the museum you can see various materials about the history of the railway junction in Jelgava, as well as a large collection of personal belongings of railway workers who worked here. Here are exhibited photos, the station caretaker bench and the apron bell, which the caretaker struck at the departure and arrival of the train, antique ticket cabinets, various tools of road workers, service uniform and even details of the steam locomotive.
