Sasso Corbaro Castle
Salita al castello di Montebello, 6500 Bellinzona
Description:
In the Middle Ages, Sasso Corbaro was used as a garrison and later as a prison. Its walls do not remember glorious victories or defeats, because it quickly fell into desolation.
Due to its location on a high rocky hill, the towers of Sasso Corbaro were often hit by lightning, which caused severe fires. There are almost no buildings outside its walls, but despite this, the castle of Sasso Corbaro was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List along with the castles of Montebello and Castelgrande.
On warm and clear days, festivities and festivals stylized as medieval festivities are held inside the castle.
