Father's Day in Lithuania

Lithuania celebrates holiday for all fathersThe Cabinet of Ministers of Lithuania during a government meeting decided that Father’s Day should be given the status of an official holiday.

In Lithuania, the holiday is officially declared “Mother’s Day” (the first Sunday of May). Thus, the Lithuanian government balanced the importance of women who have their own holiday and men who have this holiday.

Father’s Day is celebrated every first Sunday in June. However, the Government of Lithuania proposes to the Seimas of Lithuania to amend the Working Code so that weekends are not postponed to weekdays in the event that holidays fall on weekends. Now, with such coincidences, the next weekdays automatically become non-working days.
