Museum of Dogs Palanga

Taikos gatve 8, Palanga 00116, Lithuania

About the company:

In its exposition there are two thousand different figures of the "friend of man", which the local artist Vytautas Kusas collected since 1991.

According to the collector, such a museum is the only one in all the Baltic countries, ITAR-TASS reports.

Geography of the collection - 37 countries. Dogs are made of wood, clay, porcelain, glass, metal - a total of 22 materials, up to straw. The largest exhibit is an 80-centimeter wooden dog, the smallest is 5-mm silver earrings. This strange museum arose from one ceramic figurine of a puppy, which, as the owners of the institution beautifully tell – a married couple – the husband gave his wife instead of a normal live dog. Since then, they have collected more than two thousand different artificial dogs - refrigerator magnets, boxes, frames, rubber bands, postcards, earrings, beads, pendants, rings and holders for them and, of course, just meaningless dog figures, often inlaid with colored glass. Exhibits, as in this museum institution, scrupulously passed the inventory of the wife Vida - described the history of acquisition, country of origin, pose, material. If you are going to this museum, take a dog figure with you to give to the owner of the museum, and it will take a place in the exhibition.
