Uzutrakis Palace
Lithuania, Trakai district, Estate Uzhutrakis
Description:
Uzutrakis Palace is located in Lithuania, on the territory of Trakai National Historical Park, at a distance of eight kilometers southeast of the city of Trakai. The park was designed by the famous French landscape architect Edward François André.
The architecture of the palace, built by the architect Josef Hus, for Count Józef Tyszkiewicz, is a worthy example of neoclassicism. The palace was badly damaged as a result of World War II, and restoration work is still underway. The interior of the palace was decorated in the luxurious style of Louis XVI, a fan of which the count was known. The abundance of mirrors, expensive furniture and porcelain dishes, valuable parquet and many works of art collected in the halls of the palace amazed the imagination. Busts were installed near the palace, symbolizing the seasons: spring, summer, autumn and winter.
Currently, the park and the palace in it are one of the most visited places in Lithuania, and are popular both locals and tourists. On weekends, evenings of chamber music are held in the Uzhutrakis estate. Famous Lithuanian musicians fill the park with the sounds of enchanting music floating over the lake, reminiscent of those balls that were once held in the palace of Count Tyszkiewicz. Visiting Uzhutrakis Palace, you can touch the amazing and multifaceted history of Lithuania. From the palace there is an amazing view of Lake Galve, decorating the park.
