Gidemin Avenue
Description:
Gedimina Avenue is the central street of Vilnius, its main highway with a length of 1.7 km. Interestingly, traffic along the central street of Vilnius is limited, in the evening and at night and completely closed, which makes the street especially pleasant for walking.
Note that at the beginning of the XX century at the end of Gedimin Avenue was built a bridge that leads to the estate Zverinets.
Recall that until the middle of the XIX century the main street of the city was Zamkovaya, but in 1852, after the approval of the development plan, a new central highway appeared, which today bears the name of Prince Gedimin, the great historical figure of Lithuania.
The prospectus provides a connection between the 4 main squares of Vilnius - Cathedral, Self-Government, Lukishk and Independence. Here are the main government and state institutions of the country. The architectural appearance of the street is provided by buildings built in the XIX-XX centuries.
