Monument to the Martyr n

The monument to the Martyrs was erected on Burj Square in Beirut in the 30s of the last century. Then the square itself was renamed Martyrs Square.

The monument is dedicated to the Lebanese who fell in the fight against the Turkish occupation of Lebanon.

During the war, the Green Line passed through the area. It divided the city into Muslim and Christian sectors. There were incessant fierce battles.
