Catholic Christmas

Description:

Merry Christmas!
In the weeks leading up to Christmas, markets are popping up throughout Luxembourg, including the capital, designed to excite shopping and enrich the culinary experience.

Locals put wooden counters in the squares and put on them various goods dedicated to Christmas (candles, decorations for the Christmas tree, stables, etc.). They sell all sorts of things that can be purchased only at Christmas - mulled wine, gingerbread, fried nuts in sugar, baked chestnuts, and of course fried sausages, crepes (French pancakes) and sweet cotton candy - something that no holiday can do without in these parts. Trade and all sorts of homemade trinkets, beautiful stones, aromatic candles - nothing to describe. This event is held as an annual exhibition of seasonal applied arts.

Cold weather does not scare buyers, thanks to the wine on sale, heated with spices, burning schnapps (known as Drepp), nutritious soup with Mettwurscht (a local kind of sausage), pancakes and a huge amount of other gastronomic excesses.

Over the chewing and drinking human whirlpool shimmers Christmas illumination and the music of the brass band. The orchestra, located in the center of the square, enthusiastically plays, the choirs sing, and the atmosphere is filled with Christmas mood.
