Luxembourg's Ardennes Mountains
Description:
The Ardennes or Ardennes of Luxembourg are mountains in the north of the country that are part of the mountain system of France, Belgium and Luxembourg. They are also called the Ardennes Forest because of the large forest areas throughout their territory. The name of the mountains was known in the I century BC, when in the “Notes on the Gallic War” Julius Caesar mentioned the Ardennes forest as a mountain range between the rivers Meuse, Rhine and Moselle.
The Ardennes of Luxembourg are located in the northern part of the Grand Duchy, in most of the country. The mountains cover several important cities of the country – Clairvo, Vianden and Wilz. Low Ardennes are located in Luxembourg, the height of which does not exceed 500 meters. Although they are small, but very beautiful and here you can see the picturesque valleys, delightful landscapes of the Moselle River, sharp cliffs, dangerous caves and impregnable fortresses that stretch on the mountain peaks. On the slopes of the Ardennes grow birches, fir trees, oaks. A trip to the Ardennes of Luxembourg is a great choice for adventurers.
