Schengen Castle
Chateau de Schengen, 5444 Shengen, Luxembourg
Description:
Schengen Castle is an ancient medieval structure of the XIV century, which, with the exception of one tower, was completely rebuilt in 1812 for the initiatives of Jean-Nicole Collart, as it suffered greatly as a result of the Napoleonic wars. The first written mention of the castle dates back to May 1350.
The Schengen Castle is located in the village of Schengen near the Moselle River, in the southeast of Luxembourg, near the border with France and Germany. His most famous guest is the famous French writer Victor Hugo, who designed a conical tower for the castle in 1871. Since 1939, the nuns of the monastery of St. Elizabeth lived in this building and maintained order in its premises.
Since April 2010, the Schengen Castle has hosted a conference center that can accommodate more than a hundred people and a cozy hotel.
