Mount Water

Vodok, Skopje 1000, Republic of Macedonia

Description:

Mount Vodno keeps on its slopes several villages, ancient monasteries and temples, rivers and in general is the embodiment of beautiful Balkan nature.

At the top of the mountain is a metal cross called the “Millennium Cross”, which was erected here by the Orthodox Church in 2002 in honor of the 2000th anniversary of Christianity. The cross reaches a height of 66 meters, and at night it is illuminated by hundreds of light bulbs, which create excellent visibility of the cross within a radius of several kilometers. A little below the cross in the ground stuck a pillar with the Macedonian flag, indicating the military base here.

On the slope of the mountain in the village of Nerezi is the temple of St. Panteleimon. At the foot of the mountain is also a cottage village, which is now the residence of the American Ambassador. In these areas you can easily find a hotel with views of the mountain and its wonderful surroundings.
