Description:

The Rift Valley or Great African Rift is one of the most impressive places on Earth. The unique valley, which was formed as a result of the tectonic movement of the earth’s plates many millions of years ago, runs from North Africa to the central plains in Mozambique, dividing Malawi in half.

The Rift Valley is over 6,000 kilometers long. The width on average is from 30 to 100 kilometers, and the depth reaches 900 meters. On the territory of the Great Rift Valley are extinct volcanoes over 5000 meters high, such as Kenya, Kilimanjaro, Elgon. Also interesting are the depressions in which lakes were formed, such as Tanganyika, Kivu, Malawi with many mineral soda springs.

The Great Rift Valley is part of the East African Rift Zone, which further includes the Red and Dead Seas. The Rift Valley is a unique ecosystem where you can see a wildlife reserve and picturesque landscapes.
