Mount Mulanger

Mount Mulanger, Malawi

Description:

Mount Mulanger is a separate granite massif, which is located 100 kilometers southeast of the city of Blantyre, covers an area of about 650 square kilometers. From the plains, the mountain rises steeply to a high plateau at 1800-1900 meters and ends with rock peaks, the maximum height of which is 3002 meters above sea level. The highest point often juts over the fog, giving the mountain the name "Island in the Sky."

Mount Mulanger was formed from igneous rocks in the Earth’s crust, about 130 million years ago, and consists of syenite, quartz, and granite. It has a well-organized trail system. The mountain range has vegetation and on its steep slopes stand unique cedars, some of which grow up to 200 years. The area is known for tea plantations. There are also many wild animals from small antelopes to many other small mammals, and of course many birds: vultures, black eagles and countless white crows.

This mountain is interesting for abselling, mountain trekking, mountaineering, hiking is also popular here.
