Zomba Mountains
Description:
The Zomba Plateau is one of Malawi’s most famous attractions. Covered with extensive African vegetation, in some places it reaches a height of 1800 meters. In the upper part of the plateau is dotted with many streams, lakes and waterfalls.
Bird watching, mountain pastures, horseback riding, hiking trails are not the entire list of tourist attractions that hospitable Malawi has to offer. The mountainous terrain of the region is rich in minerals such as - egirin, quartz, feldspar, cicrone. The government of Malawi issues certificates for mining. Excavation sites are sometimes surprisingly dangerous.
Hiking to the top of the plateau is one of the most popular tourist routes, as there is an abundance of plant life such as lilies, aloe, gladiolus, ancient cicadas, ferns, as well as Malawi animals. From the top of the plateau, you can enjoy the magnificent scenery: see Lake Chilwa, Mount Mulanje and the Shire River.
