Manoel Island
Description:
Manoel Island is part of Malta and is located in close proximity to the main island. Since Manoel and Malta share a small water channel, 15-20 meters wide, the island is often considered a peninsula. On the other bank is the city of Gzira, which is connected by a bridge. The island is practically uninhabited, there are several buildings, and mainly it serves as a marina for a large number of yachts.
In Marsamschett harbor on the coast of Manoel there is a fort of the same name, which was built by the Knights of Malta in the middle of the XVIII century. The fortification was used for military purposes until the beginning of the last century.
