Mdina

The Greek Gate of Mdina in Malta

Description:

Three gates lead to the ancient city of Mdina in Malta, one of which is the Greek Gate. They were built even before the Knights Hospitallers, but they also contributed, somewhat improving them in the fortification relation. The Greek Gate stands on St. Nicholas Square, one of the main Greek saints. The gate is called the Greek Gate because it was once a compact Greek diaspora in Malta. By the way, slaves were not allowed to enter the city through the Main Gate and they entered only here.
