St. Anthony Botanical Garden
San Anton Gardens, Triq Birbal, Attard, Malta
Description:
The Botanical Garden of St. Anthony is a kind of oasis in Malta, where you can find exotic flowers, trees and shrubs. This is one of the favorite vacation spots not only for tourists, but also for the indigenous population of Malta.
Open to the public since 1882, the garden delights its guests with graceful sidewalks, sculptures and decorative ponds in which charming swans swim. Here you will be surrounded by flowers and trees from all over the world, including a wide variety of palm trees, cypresses, araukaris and other exotic plants, some of which were planted more than three centuries ago.
For many years, heads of state have planted a tree in this garden in memory of their stay in Malta. Most of the garden is made up of orange groves, the harvests of which are distributed as Christmas presents by the Maltese government.
