Port Nouadibou
Description:
The coast of Nouadhibou is considered the largest cemetery of ships. Over the past 20 years, there have been more than 500 abandoned ships.
The city is home to Port Nouadhibou, which is the country’s largest fishing port. It is the number one ocean port in Mauritania.
The cargo port was built here in 1963.
Each year, the port receives 9-10 times more ships than the port of Nouakchott. It also accepts foreign vessels.
Recently, the government of Mauritania has set a goal to expand the port and improve it so that in the coming years all trade turnover is carried out through them.
