The port of Nouakchott is located near West Africa in Nouakchott, Mauritania.
The port is second only to the port of Nouadhibou, despite being in the capital.
The port has been in operation since 1966. Construction work is continuing here. The government set the task to gradually expand the territory so that all trade would be carried out through this port.
Import traffic at the port is 96.4% of all annual traffic. Imported goods include wheat flour, sugar, semolina, milk. Exports of goods contain cement, plaster, animal skins and fish.
