Cove Concept
Description:
Concept Bay is a bay on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean and the Namib Desert, located among two capes, the distance between which is greater than in the bay, but less than in the Persian Gulf.
The bay is located 7 meters above sea level. Fast currents and thick fog, characteristic of the coast of the Namib desert, were the cause of the wreck of many ships, it is in the Bay of Conception. Evidence of these incidents can still be found today.
Here in 1909, the ship Edward Bolen crashed, lost in the fog and ran aground. Attempts to save the ship were unsuccessful, passengers were evacuated, and now the wreckage of the ship, rusted and partially buried in the sand, lie a few hundred meters from the coastline and symbolize the loneliness and despair of the coast of the Namib Desert.
