Kaudom National Park

Namib Desert, Namibia

Description:

Kaudom National Park is a wild nature reserve in Namibia. It is located in the Kalahari desert and covers an area of about 3,842 km2. In the winter months, you can see large herds of elephants, giraffes, wildebeest, hyenas, lions and leopards, as well as more than 300 species of various exotic birds.

The park is quite wild and does not provide any services for tourists. There are only two fairly simple camps, Sikrati in the south and Kaudom in the north, but they are currently unsupported. All roads leading to the park consist of soft sand, so it is best to go here by “off-road”.

The vegetation here is dominated by cacti, camel thorns and other wild trees and shrubs. Forests are mostly dry due to hot climates. It is difficult for animals, saves only the fact that Kaudom crosses three broad sandy river beds, which during heavy rains can serve as places for watering holes.
