One of the main attractions of the city. The building was designed by Gottlieb Redeker. Construction began in April 1896 under the direction of Pastor Wilhelm Anz. After the end of the war between the Germans and the Hottentots, Herero and Ovambo, the building was consecrated as the Church of Peace.
The church is in the centre of Windhoek. The 24-meter-high church tower, like the entire building, is built of sandstone. The marble is made of a church portal and an altar, which was delivered 30 kilometers from the farm of Gushe Gas. Colorful stained glass windows in the altarpiece are a gift from Emperor William II.
